For the first time ever, the Ivy Sports Symposium will be hosted at Columbia University’s campus in New York City. Founded in 2006 by Chris Chaney as the Princeton Sports Symposium, the symposium’s aim is to help students and professionals acquire invaluable knowledge about sports business from industry leaders. As a student-run conference, the symposium provides opportunities for students to gain experience organizing and coordinating a large-scale sports conference.
With a desire to involve a greater number of students in the organizational process, the organization was recently rebranded as the "Ivy Sports Symposium” with the conference to rotate among the Ivy League Institutions. In 2011, the first symposium held outside of Princeton at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania was a great success. There are high expectations for this year's upcoming conference in NYC due to the city’s high profile within the sports industry in addition to Columbia University’s participation.
